Introduce yourself in Vietnamese
Hello from Huế, Việt Nam.
Today we will learn how to introduce ourselves in Vietnamese.
Firstly, greetings. Say “Xin chào” as “Hello” when you meet people.
Secondly, introducing your name. “My name is _____” is “Tên tôi là _____” in Vietnamese. Just add your name in the blank and you help other people know how to call you!
Thirdly, how about your nationality? Are you from Vietnam? Are you from Australia? Or Are you from Italy? To answer this question in Vietnamese, just say “Tôi là người _____” and add “Việt Nam”, “Úc” or “Ý” if you come from those countries listed above.
Next is your job. Our friends in the videos are mostly “students”, so they introduce themselves as “sinh viên”. Two of them say “Tôi học Y tế công cộng”, which means “I study Public Health”. One another studies “Social Work” so she says “Tôi học Công tác xã hội”.
Finally, don’t forget to say “Tạm biệt. Hẹn gặp lại!” when you want to say bye. By this saying, you mean “Goodbye. See you again!”
