Explore the Animal Kingdom
Hello from Huế, Việt Nam.
Today, let’s immerse ourselves in the Vietnamese vocabulary of “con vật” (animals)!
From our close surroundings, like our homes, to far-away lands such as forests, animals are always a fascinating topic because of their incredible diversity in species.
In our daily life, we are already familiar with “con ong” (bee) or “con cá” (fish). Meanwhile, animals like “con sư tử” (lion) or “con gấu” (bear) often come to mind when we think of adventurous forests.
It’s worth noting that Vietnamese people often combine the word “con” with another word to refer to an animal. For example, “con” is paired with “voi” to say “elephant.”
Additionally, sometimes we use an animal’s specific features to name it. Take the “zebra” for example. This horse-like animal has stripes on its body, and since “stripes” in Vietnamese means “vằn,” we call it “con ngựa vằn.”
If you pay close attention to the video, you will learn 9 animals in total ^^. Hope you have a great time learning Vietnamese animal words with Ms Hằng, a teacher from Enjoyable Vietnamese. Join us for more helpful lessons!
