What do Vietnamese wear on winter days?

Hello from Huế, Việt Nam

The weather has been getting colder lately, hasn’t it? Today we will share with you a list of clothes that Vietnamese people often wear during the winter season.

First on the list is “áo khoác”, which translates to “coat”. This is a must-have winter item, and we love wearing them in vibrant colors. In addition, many young people these days prefer “áo len” (sweater) or “áo hoodie” (hoodie) for extra comfort on chilly days. For those who enjoy a vintage aesthetic, a “gi-lê” (gilet) can add a stylish touch to any outfit. And don’t forget to put on a pair of socks or “một đôi tất” to keep your feet cozy!

Interestingly, some words in Vietnamese are borrowed directly from English, retaining their original form, like “hoodie” and “gilet.” Additionally, when referring to a pair of items, we often use “một đôi” or “một cặp” in Vietnamese. For example, a pair of shoes is “một đôi giày.”

We hope these tips help you stay warm and fashionable this winter. Wishing you a cozy and wonderful day with your loved ones!
